Dawn has been a Pastor's wife for 31 years, and is a mother to two beloved, adult children, resulting in this family growing to 8 with the addition of two beautiful marriages, and two precious grandchildren! Dawn has been in ministry with her husband for 33 years, 27 of those in the parish.
Despite a traumatic past that at one time left her hopeless, God intervened, rescued her and provided a way out! This began a wonderful journey of healing her heart and restoring her life, but God didn't stop there. After 5 years of suffering with chronic illness, on Sept. 24, 2006, God healed her of a painful condition. This encounter opened her eyes for the first time to the miracle-working power of God.
Dawn has ministered God's love and presence through music, both within the church and in other venues including professional recording, radio interviews, private lessons, worship leading at conferences and retreats, public speaking, leadership training, and discipleship for worshippers of all ages. Having experienced the love of her Heavenly Father, she lives to see people transformed by His love too! "O Taste and see that the LORD is good!" Psalm 34:8.
Dawn is a worshipper who loves Jesus, a gifted musician and songwriter, with singing being her strongest expression. As she leads worship, people are invited and ushered into God’s Presence. She is a contemplative intercessor who loves to meditate, sing, apply, and teach people how to pray God’s Word. In relating with others, she is compassionate, reassuring, appreciative, empathetic, and has been described as a good listener with a mother’s heart.
Dawn encourages right attitudes, right relationships, seeks Godly wisdom, is a strong communicator, and highly values communication with people. She believes in seeking God to know her assignment in any given situation, because clarity protects people, and cultivates freedom. Even as a spontaneous, artsy musician, she has been described as focused, which is nothing short of a miracle, as this is not typical for artistic people!
Life verses are: Romans 8:1, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; Romans 8:28, God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him; 1 Samuel 16:7, God cares most about the heart; Colossians 1:27, Christ in you is the hope of glory; Exodus 14:14, the Lord will fight for you, you only need to be still; and Galatians 6:4, test your own actions, and do not compare yourself to others.
Dawn’s life experiences have built into her a deep compassion for those displaced from their families, either temporarily or long-term, as well as a sensitivity to people who have relocated to new areas or are needing to make new friends.
Where she has lived… Pennsylvania, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Michigan, Iowa, New York, Illinois, and California. She calls herself a “Texakanissourian.”
Hobbies… Taking leisurely walks by the river, casual bird-watching, going on dates
with her husband, listening to her kids share stories, writing, reading, vacations,
holiday family gatherings, and visiting with friends who do not live nearby.
Dawn was also involved with Moms In Touch/Moms In Prayer for 15 years.
